Hard Boiled Eggs

Hello! I had hoped to post this week about our adventure to IKEA, but life is happening and I can't/don't want to miss out on it! I hope to be posting later next week. But for now, let me leave you with this funny little tale that is going around the pool ... It has been reported (by local media) that Farmer's are feeding their chickens ice chips to keep their eggs from hard boiling! Have a great day and see you soon! julie

Rambling for sure...

I'm having a cranky day... I'm not joyously tackling my jobs. Anyone else had a day like that? Well, after being short with every single one of my daughters and then apologizing (to some). You would have thought I'd changed my tune. Unfortunately no. I was driving back from Urban Girl's work when I noticed the sign of a local church. I see this sign regularly and know the name of the church. Today I took a quick glimpse and read Price Of Peace. Huh? I did a double take. Oh, Prince of Peace. Anyone ever been disciplined like that? Price of Peace. hmmmm . The price was dearly paid for today. My children think I'm an ogre of a Mom (and I was acting like one). Thank you Lord for my little wake up call.... I wish I had deeper words of wisdom or wonderful scripture to spill forth, but all that keeps coming to mind is. Slow down and do all with a joyous heart. julie

As Promised

Okay, as promised here are the disturbing photos..... Doesn't look to bad does it? This area ALWAYS piles up. Here's the actual closet where I keep this year's c urriculum. Stuff I really don't want touched goes on the upper shelves. Here's some books......... Sorry about the pictures , I did it quick and it was painful! And here's 1 cabinets worth of books out in the living room....... Believe me it looks even worse in real life :0 So here's the plan: 1. Wednesday- haul out all books and go through them. ( give , keep , throw or craft away) 2. Thursday- clean out all curriculum. (sell, give, keep) 3. Friday- IKEA Day! We've never been so it should be fun! ( at least for Grammy and me) Finalize room changes with Superman. Maybe even get some things moved around. (i have a plan drawn up on paper- we may need to make 1 shelf and a make shift work station) 4. Saturday and Monday- re categorize everything and put into place. So that's it. I like t

Pondering or Rambling?

*********Oh the Horror! I'll be posting the pictures as soon as my battery charges.********** I'm sitting here in our School / Computer/ Office/ Library/ Musical Instrument Room and well......... I just don't know how to control this room. I'm constantly freaking out, yelling, crying over this 11x10 space. I've tried going with the flow. I've used every organizational skill known to woman kind. This space is just not working. At times all 6 of us gather in this small space. It holds 4 large cabinets, 3 computers, a dining room table, 5 to 6 chairs, and an encyclopedia cabinet. I need to haul it out yet again. Put away the past year and get ready for the new one. As you can see I'm not doing what I should be doing.... Anyone want to come and help me? I'm REALLY Serious. On to happier thoughts... Summer has become so crazy! It's great, but I haven't adjusted to our schedule. We all are involved in some sort of swimming from 8:30 until 10:30. By th

Cramming

Lookie ,what I did tonight. I CRAMMED my bod into a modest, yet uncomfortably snug bathing suit. Marched myself down (okay, a girlfriend picked me up) to our community center and took a water aerobics class! (I couldn't have done it without you Debbie! I needed you by my side and your accountability to get my bathing suit clad body down there.) (that's me in the floral number, bottom right) We had a great time exercising and not sweating a drop! The girls in the Zumba class (inside the air conditioned center) had nothing on us. We were working just as hard... Oh ladies, what you are missing out on! Seriously, we were the youngest in the group. But they accepted us with love and made us get right to work! You see the buoy looking thingies up there. Man, do your arms hurt after a couple of reps with those babies ;) And I never knew there were so many exercises you could do with a noodle. I need to get me one and a pool to go with it. heeheehee If I could do this year round and i

Onion Dip

Does anyone remember me talking about my onion woes? Well here is something tasty we do with the tips! When the onions are 1st pulled we take a bunch of them and cut and clean all the greens. I then chop them up and put them in my American Harvester Dehydrator that my parents gave me 16 years ago! (as you can tell I like this machine) Here's what they look like when they are done. Now they are ready for soups, biscuits, dips, you name it. So now I'm ready to make onion dip. Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of green onions (really to taste). Place them in your coffee grinder and give it a whirl. Add salt and pepper to taste and give another whirl! Mix in about 2 cups of your favorite sour cream or yogurt. Let stand in the refrigerator for about an hour. Dip in your favorite veggies! Yummy! We do this with dill also! Check out more frugal ideas over at Life As Mom ! What are some of your favorite dips? julie
